VISITING
THE MUSEUM
Rokeby
Museum is a National
Historic Landmark and 90-acre historic site located on US Route
7 in Ferrisburgh, Vermont. The site
includes a house fully furnished with family belongings spanning more
than 200 years and eight outbuildings, all of which are open to view.
Rokeby is open from mid-May to mid-October each year, and there are
several different ways for you to see it.
HOUSE
TOURS
The house may be seen by guided tour only in groups limited to twelve.
Tours last about 45 minutes and are offered at 11:00, 12:30, and 2:00
Thursday through Sunday.
ADMISSION
$6 for adults $4 for seniors and students $2 for children 12 and under.

surrounding the house may be seen by self-guided tour. Permanent exhibits
are located in the outbuildings, and an audiotape tour is also available.
HIKING
TRAILS AND GROUNDS
Rokeby's
hiking trails take you through more than 50 acres of working and former
farmland and historic orchard and are open year round during daylight
hours. You may wander on your own or take the self-guided hike, “How
A Farm Becomes A Forest.”
SCHOOL
PROGRAMS
Rokeby Museum's school programs are designed to enrich the classroom
curriculum for grades four through eight and to help bring history to

Each year, the Museum sponsors several events that give you extra incentive

2008
CALENDAR OF EVENTS
Rokeby Museum will be open from May
25 to October 12, 2008.
Opening Day
Sunday, May 25, 2 pm
Patricia Kane, curator at Yale University Art Gallery, will take us
on a tour of Rhode Island furniture in Rokeby’s collection. The
Robinsons hailed from Newport and brought some pieces to Vermont with
them, including a Townsend- Goddard pipe box.
Mr. and Mrs. Prince
Sunday, June 15, 2 pm
Author Gretchen Holbrook Gerzina will discuss her biography of a remarkable
African American couple, Lucy and Abijah Prince. Lucy Prince’s
legend is well known, and Gerzina’s research provides extraordinary
new insight into her life. Books will be available for sale and signing.
Pie & Ice Cream
Social
Sunday, August 10, 1 – 4 pm
Our annual extravaganza of homemade pie, ice cream, and the Vergennes
City Band. This is pure fun and supports Museum education, so don’t
miss it.
Nature Hike
Sunday, September 14, 2 pm
UVM naturalist and teacher Jesse Mohr will lead visitors on a guided
hike in the footsteps of Rowland E. Robinson. Come for a ramble in the
woods highlighted by Robinson’s own words and images.

DIRECTIONS TO ROKEBY
From the South: Rokeby is located approximately 3 miles north of Vergennes
on US Route 7 in Ferrisburgh. Watch for the historic site marker and
front entrance sign on right.
From the North: Travel approximately 2 miles south of the village center
of North Ferrisburgh on US Route 7. Watch for museum entrance sign on
